    Christchurch International Airport is located 7kms from the Hotel. Travelling time is usually 20 minutes however, extra time should be allowed for peak hour traffic. Limousine Services, taxis or any other transport requirements may be arranged through our Concierge (dial 800).

    Banking hours are Monday to Friday, 9:00am until 4:30pm, some have slightly extended hours on late shopping nights.

    Located om the ground floor, 50 Bistro Bar is open from 11.00am till late. A wide selection of beverages and cocktails are available along with a tasty Snack Bar Menu.

    BATHROBES

    Luxurious bathrobes are supplied for your comfort. Should you desire one to take home as a memento or gift they can be purchased from Reception (dial 0).

    BATHROOMS

    Under floor heating is available in guest room bathrooms and is set to your comfort. If you wish to increase or decrease the temperature turn dial clockwise or anti-clockwise.

    BATTERY RECYCLING

    We can recycle your batteries for you.  We invite you to leave these on the desk or beside table, or give them to our front desk team on check out.  These will be collected and recycled on your behalf.  From hearing aid batteries, AA, AAA, 9V and more we are happy to do our part to ensure that used batteries do not go to landfill.

    BICYCLE HIRE

    E-bikes and helmets are available to house guests, at a cost of $15.00 per use, for cycling around Christchurch.

    The Hotel offers a same day service Monday to Saturday (no service available on Sundays), with the exception of Public Holidays. Place outside your door before 8.30am.

    In the event of an earthquake crouch and take cover under or beside a solid object or wall. We would recommend the desk as the best option. Please do not attempt to evacuate the building unless the alarms sound.

    The power in New Zealand is 240 volts. Please contact Reception (dial 0) for a transformer if your electrical equipment is not compatible. The George is proud to use a carbon neutral electricity supplier.

    EMERGENCY

    A continuous ringing bell is the signal to vacate the Hotel in case of an emergency. The assembly point is on Peterborough St, north of the vehicle entrance. Do not take baggage out of your rooms. For your, and others, personal safety, please follow the instructions of our staff, who have been trained to react in these situations.

    All items that have been found are held by Housekeeping. If you have lost or misplaced any of your personal belongings please contact the Housekeeper (dial 832), 7:30am – 4:00pm. Non-perishable and valuable items are stored for 90 days and are then given away to charity if unclaimed.

    LUGGAGE

    The George offers both short term and long term storage for your luggage, in a safe and secure storage room. To have your luggage collected or delivered to your room, contact Concierge (dial 800).

    NIGHT SENSOR LIGHT

    A night sensor light is located in the bathroom for your convenience.

    The switch for this light is located just outside the bathroom at ankle height and offers Off, Auto and Manual settings.

    All of the rooms and enclosed public areas in the hotel are designated non-smoking.

    The non-smoking policy applies to both occupants and visitors in these rooms.

    Feather pillows are standard on your bed, however non-allergenic pillows can be found on the top shelf of your wardrobe.

    Buckwheat – Buckwheat pillows offer many advantages over conventional fillings. Buckwheat pillows can aid in the relief of pain as the material conforms to the exact contours of the head and neck, providing support.

    Lavender – The calming and soothing fragrance of lavender has been used for centuries to clear and purify breathing and induce sleep. This pillow uses aromatherapy properties of pure essential oils to help you fall asleep more readily and to enjoy a truly restful slumber.
